Types of Membership
 
The membership consist of voting, honorary and retired memberships falling into one of the following three categories:
 
Voting Membership.  Membership in the association shall be open to Federal, State, County, municipal and township activities, public school systems, colleges and universities.
 
Honorary Membership.  Honorary membership may be conferred upon individuals who have made distinguished contributions to the purchasing profession or this association by a majority vote of the members present when there is a quorum.  Honorary members shall not be entitled to vote or hold office and shall be exempt from payment of fees and dues.
 
Retired Membership.  Retired membership may be conferred upon members of the association upon their retirement from the pursuit of their livelihood through active employment, and upon written request for such membership.  Retired members shall not be entitled to vote or hold office and shall be exempt from payment of fees and dues.
 
Membership Privileges
Professional development through attendance at meetings with qualified speakers.  NIGP recognizes this fact and allows CAPA members one re-certification point for seven meetings attended.
 
Attendance at the Annual CAPA Conference, an intense day of workshops focused on the needs of public purchasing professionals.  NIGP recognizes this as training and upon submission of proof of attendance, the member will receive recertification points for attendance at the CAPA Conference.
 
Fellowship in a professional organization which allows an exchange of ideas and networking between members.
 
A review of NIGP class texts needed for certification and testing for the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council’s (UPPCC) Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) and Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) purchasing certifications.
 
Membership Dues
Membership dues are $30.00/NIGP members or $35.00/non-NIGP members for a one year membership.  Interested applicants may join anytime during the year at which time their membership dues will be prorated based on the dues structure shown below.
 
Invoices for current members are payable annually on the first of April.  Invoices are sent to the address currently on file with the CAPA Secretary.
 
In the case of new members, dues are payable on the prorated basis immediately upon enrollment as a member.
